The building of Druviena municipal school was erected in 1868 and served its original function until 1951. It was the school of such prominent cultural activists of Latvia as the writerand poet Jānis Poruks (1871-1911), literaryhistorian an bibliographer Kārlis Egle (1887-1974), translator Rūdolfs Egle (1889-1947), writer, journalist and publicist Vilis Ešots (1907-1979).
A public museum was founded and openedin the former school building in 1966 on the initiative of its former student and teacher K. Egle. The museum displays an exhibition depicting a late 19th century and early 20th century rural school in Vidzeme region . Visitors can see the old classrooms and living quarters and find out more about prominent persons whose origins are related to the local erea. The museum also features everyday life and working environment of people from Druviena and Tirza municipalites since the early 19th century. Druviena municipal school and museums is currently one of the most important cultural centres in the area.Adrese:
